Play is developmental, especially unstructured play like building a fort. To help children become more independent in their play, I have developed a tool for fort-building – a clamp.

The Clamp is designed to make fort-building at home easier and safer, with the goal of encouraging play through both form and function.

I drew inspiration from a classic bar clamp as it doesn’t require much force during fastening, making it suitable for younger individuals to use.

The Clamp is mainly made from wood, a sustainable material that becomes more beautiful over time. This also allows for repainting or other touch ups that make it sustainable.
